S. Nuri Bilal — Studio Head, Ebony Reverie Comics

I didn't plan any of this.

I was in Canva one day — just exploring — when I came across a template for a comic book cover. I wondered what kind of cover I could make. That wondering turned into two days of focused creative work. Two days later I had ten covers, each with a title, each with a character I hadn't fully met yet.

A year after that, I hit "Save and Publish" on Amazon KDP. December 15, 2025.

I'm S. Nuri Bilal — writer, creator, and Studio Head of SupaVerse Studios LLC, based in Newark, NJ. I'd spent years dabbling in poetry and creative writing, but I never once saw myself as a storyteller. I had no industry connections, no formal training, no roadmap. What I had was curiosity.

The artwork came first. Seeing these characters rendered on screen — Black Muslimahs depicted with care, variety, and fullness — that was the revving sound of the entire engine. The stories followed the imagery. The universe followed the stories. And somewhere in that process, this became my life's work.

Adventures of Black Muslimahs: The SupaSistas!™ is published under Ebony Reverie Comics, an imprint of SupaVerse Studios LLC. It's a 200-issue shared universe built at the intersection of Black Muslim culture, Newark history, and archival storytelling — designed to document cultural fullness, not trauma. Think Pleasantville, full of Black people, Black culture, Black texture, and flavor — with a prayer rug.

It started with a little imagination. Yes, I'm woke — unapologetically — but this is what happens when I daydream.
